実はずっと憧れていたのは、ハネベンの中でも“縦目”と呼ばれるヘッドライトが縦型のW111だったんです。ただ、このW110と出会ったことで、「丸目の方が可愛げがあっていいかも」って思えてきて。今となっては、丸目のハネベンってあまり見ないので、こっちを選んで良かったと思っています。
I was originally drawn to W111 because of its vertical headlights, but after seeing this W110, I began thinking that the round headlights of this vehicle look more adorable.

買ったとき、ボディの塗装が結構剥げていたので、ほぼ同じ色で塗り直しました。ちょっと玩具っぽいグレーの色味が気に入っています。エンジンは燃料系統をキャブレターからコンピューターを入れて電気制御に変更。おかげで調子は良いです。この前、ひさしぶりに動かなくなりましたが（笑）。
I repainted this car with almost the same color as the original one because the original paint was partially peeling. The engine is now electronically controlled and works well.

ハネベンに惹かれた理由は、呼び名の由来でもある、このリアフォルムですね。もともとはアメ車が好きだったんですが、冷静に考えると、ちょっとトッポすぎて自分には似合わないような気がして。それで、50～60年代のアメ車に影響を受けた古いヨーロッパの車に興味を持つようになったんです。
I used to be into U.S. cars, but at some point I thought it might be too posh for me. Then I became interested more in European vehicles inspired by U.S. cars made in the 50s-60s.

サングラスはNEEDLESの跳ね上げ式のものを愛用中。そもそも50年代のアメリカで流行ったブロータイプの眼鏡が好きというのもあるんですが、老眼が始まったせいでレンズだけ上げ下げできるのがリアルに便利なんですよね（笑）。壊れたときのためのストック分も含めて、全部で4本持っています。
I love these flip-up sunglasses from Needles. I do like this classic American style and those are actually good for my aged eyes (laughs). I own four pairs including spares.

車に限らず、ピカピカの新品より使い古されたものの方が好きです。だからメッキのくすみも、これはこれで味わい深いかなって。
Generally, I prefer well-used things than flashy new ones. So dull plating like this looks rather nice for me.

トランスミッションはコラム式のマニュアル。慣れるのに多少時間はかかりましたが、車を操る感覚を直に感じられるんですよね。
It took a while for me to get used to this manual transmission vehicle. But it gives me a direct sense of driving.

針が下から上に上昇する縦型のメーターも、ハネベンの特徴のひとつ。今どきのデジタル表示より、こっちの方がグッときます。
This vertical speedometer is one of the unique features of Mercedes Fintail. I like it more than the digital ones.

iPadとカーステをつなぐケーブルを入れている青いポーチは、タイの友人からの戴き物。セリーヌのレザーポーチは小銭入れです。
My friend in Thailand gave me this blue pouch. I use the Céline leather pouch to keep small change.

ハンドルも当時の純正品のまま。デザインはもちろん、ちょっと象牙っぽい、このホワイトの独特な色味が良くないですか？
The handle is the original, authentic one of this car. Isn’t the design stunning as well as the nuanced color?

スピーカーはフロントシートの足元に取り付け。チューンナップは、あくまでオリジナルの雰囲気を壊さずに行うのがこだわり。
Speakers are located near the bottom of the front seat. I always try to keep the car’s original style when upgrading.

空調が付いてなかったので、見た目的に合うパーツを探して後付けしました。シートベルトとハザードも同じような感じですね。
I added an air-conditioning system, seat belts and hazard lights to this car with matching parts I have found.

シートはグレー系だったものを自分で選んだ色と素材に張替え。それに合わせてダッシュボードや天井などもすべて張替えました。
I replaced the original gray seat covers with this new fabric.The dashboard and ceiling were re-covered likewise.

この3本も普段よくかけている眼鏡です。EYEVOLのスポーツ用サングラス（左上）は、すっごく軽くて今一番のお気に入り。
I also wear these sunglasses quite often. The Eyevol ones are surprisingly light and my current favorite.

トートは昔から大好きな、すごく思い入れのある鞄です。18歳のときに買ったL.L.BEANのものも、カー用品入れとして未だに現役。
I’ve always been a big fan of tote bags. I bought this L.L. BEAN bag when I was 18 and am still using it.

I finally got this TIMEX watch made in collab with EG and BEAMS BOY after it was re-released in January this year.

20～30年前に買った米国製のアンティークウォッチ。なんとなくまた使いたくなって、つい先日オーバーホールに出しました。
I had bought this antique American watch 20-30 years ago and currently started using it again for some reason.

BGMはオールディーズや古いソウルミュージックが中心。特にこの5枚は、どれも20代の頃からずっと聴き続けている愛聴盤です。
Oldies songs and old soul music are what I mainly listen to while driving. These CDs are my longtime favorite.

アウターは運転中にもたつかないショート丈を選びがち。今日着ているEGのAVIATOR JACKETは、2シーズン続けて購入しました。
I prefer short-length jackets as those are more comfortable in a car. This AVIATOR JACKET I’m wearing is from EG.

愛犬の「グリグリ」は5歳のトイプードル。生まれて間もない頃に我が家にやってきました。休日には車でよく一緒に出かけます。
My toy poodle Gris-Gris came to our house shortly after birth. We often go for a ride together on my day off.

I love the color and the design of these EG x Timberland shoes. Those are my current favorite when I drive a car.

ベンツ関連の古い洋書。今の愛車と出会う前は、表紙にハネベンが描かれた右の本を肴にして夜な夜な酒を飲んでましたね（笑）。
These are old foreign books on Mercedes. Before owning this car, I used to browse these while drinking at night.

21歳で手に入れたボルボ122S。一台目でこんな車買うなんてばかちんですよ、ホント（笑）。結局、2年ほど乗って手放しました。
I bought this Volvo 122S at the age of 21 as my first car ever.It was obviously an ill-judged decision (laughs).
- 小学生のときに通っていた塾で、年上のオシャレなお兄さんから雑誌の『メンズクラブ』を教えられてファッションに目覚めたんです。そのあと、『ポパイ』が創刊されたことで、興味の対象が徐々にライフスタイル全般に広がっていって。海外のクラシックカーに乗りたいと思うようになったのも、その影響が大きいと思います。ハネベンは20代の頃に雑誌で見て以来、ずっと憧れの車でした。とはいえ、駆け出しの役者だった自分にはまだまだ高嶺の花で。結局、一台目こそ頑張ってボルボ122Sを買ったものの、その後は仕方なくボロボロのアコードを三台乗り継ぎました。たしか13万円くらいだったかな。我ながらチョイスが極端だと思います（笑）。今乗っているW110型のハネベンを手に入れたのは、ちょうど10年前。実はその2年前に友人から「いいハネベンが見つかった」という連絡が入ったんですが、タイミング悪く縦目のベンツW114を買った直後だったので、その時は諦めたんですよ。でも、そのW114があまり程度が良くなく、2年ほど乗って買い替えを考えたときに、たまたま雑誌でこのW110を見つけて。で、お店に行ってみたら、偶然にも2年前に友人が紹介してくれた、まさにその車だったんです。ああ、これは運命なんだなと（笑）。購入後、最初にエンジンのオーバーホールをして、そこから10年かけて少しずつ手を加えていきました。今では日常の足として問題なく使えるレベルにまで仕上がったので、これで撮影現場に行くことも多いです。帰りに好きな音楽をかけながら好きな車を運転していると、それだけで気分をリセットできるんですよね。僕にとっては、仕事とプライベートを切り替える、とても大切な時間です。
- When I was an elementary school kid, an older, cool boy had introduced me a fashion magazine. I was then drawn to clothes. Later, as POPEYE magazine was published, my interests widened to include various lifestyle products. I think the magazine cultivated my desire to drive an imported classic car. Mercedes Fintail has been my dream car since I saw it on a magazine in my 20s. It was, however, way too unattainable for a budding actor like me. I finally got my hands on the car of my dreams ten years ago. Actually, my friend had told me two years earlier that he found a good Mercedes Fintail. But it was right after I bought W114 and I had to let it go, unwillingly. However, the W114 was in a bad shape and I started to think about replacing it after having driven the car for two years. Then I saw this W110 on a magazine and went to the store to see it. And what I found out was that the vehicle was exactly the one my friend had told me! I was meant to meet the car, you know (laughs). Since then, I’ve spent ten years to recondition it and now I can drive it on public roads without problems. Driving a car with music playing is truly refreshing and valuable time for me.
